Creativity

“Creativity” is the first card of the InnerTide Wisdom Cards and the counterpart to “Receptivity”.the two collectively represent the forces of Yin and Yang.

The aspect which is often overlooked is the disturbance and destruction which are required to provide the energy that fuels the creativity. Although this can be seen as obstruction and unnerving because we’re attached to how we might wish for things to be, it can herald the emergence of that vital ingredient, the unknown. It lends richness to events, often emerging from the wreckage of existing plans gone wrong.

It can be challenging to let something go and see something disappear when it is familiar to us or we have invested time and energy in it. Sometimes the benefit of doing so remains obscure until the gift of hindsight further down the line gives us that “ahh” moment when we see things slot into place.

Perseverance, flexibility and being open to new ideas is the way forward when the creative process takes hold and allows it to flow.

As we enter the season of Spring it’s a time when creativity, new ideas and projects can emerge. It links to the elements of Wind and Wood in the Chinese five element theory which in turn link to the Liver and Gall Bladder meridians in the body.

The Liver is associated with organisation and planning, a metaphor of its function in the body as a chemistry lab. The Gall Bladder links with decision making because it has to decide when to release bile into our system. Together they help manifest the creative process.
